Normally, during the middle of the semester i lack the ability to remain focused and motivated. I also tend to procrastinate at an extensive degree. Unlike any other semester, this year i started on the right foot.I'm on top of my game; i have straight A's. Right after i graduated from High school, i knew how our cumulative GPA works. Since then, I've been working hard to start the year strong; unlike my freshmen year in High School i was clueless.I do admit i need to remain motivated as i feel like it is slowly deteriorating. At the beginning of the semester i was excited to start college but now i'm experiencing stressful situations. I have too many things to do in so little time. I lack motivation every once in a while but i know, the better i do in my classes the faster and easier it'll be for me to transfer out of Fullerton College. My current motivation are: my family, UCI, and my nursing career. The zeal it brings out of me is unbelievable. The serenity i will feel when i accomplish is one thing i am truly looking forward to. I will push myself. My definitive solution to stop lacking motivation is to remember the quote "Fake it 'til you make it". This quote has pushed me to try my hardest. For example, i can pretend i'm smart until i finally believe it and start to become it. Grey's Anatomy is also another bolster as i can't wait to be an intern.I'm also looking forward to December as it has my favorite holiday's! During those sleepless nights, i can prevent myself from losing motivation by looking up the benefits of being a nurse or hoping to make my family proud on all my accomplishments.

Reflection
This past week I planned to study for my Jazz History and Sociology exam. I also finished annotating the psychology chapter with my group for the content area project. I'm ecstatic to announce that I was indeed successful on completing these tasks. The reading strategies I utilized for the psychology chapter was the SQ3R since all I had to do was annotate and formulate a couple of questions. I answered the questions accordingly and also summarized after every page just to make sure i retained the information. Summarizing was extremely helpful; i could refer to it without haveing to read the whole page again. On the other hand, I employed my study skills practice on both of my exams. I turned subheadings into questions and then I answered them which helped me give suffice information about the content.
Next week I need to focus on my content area project. I need to modify my strategy on becoming more focused. I also need to take my work more seriously; I can’t procrastinate. I need to get my work ready before the due date just so I can give my best effort. Involving my study skills are also essential to this upcoming weeks essay as I have to read and annotate an article and debate my opinion. My reading skills will include summarizing, producing questions, and annotating prominent ideas to argue my opinion accurately. I will also have to memorize my vocabulary for my reading class and will do so by utilizing the graffiti note cards. I will continue to use my study skills as well as my reading strategies throughout my classes.

Reflection
Perseverance, Applying Knowledge to New Situations, and Striving for Accuracy are three of the prominent ideals to success. Perseverance begins with determination. For instance, not allowing failure to intervene with the process of becoming successful; that’s the only way to improve and learn. To keep on going, is getting one step closer to achieving the desired results. My excessive anxiety for example, has made me contemplate my stay in college. But, because i want to have a successful life, i have to keep on pushing through despite the obstacles i encounter. “Applying Knowledge to New Situations” is to utilize former knowledge and applying it to another.Although the problem may seem greater, you must dig deeper and they’ll turn out to be less complex than it appears. For example, i was the last single’s player in my tennis match and it was up to me to break the tie.I was exhausted after long hours of playing but, I recalled the immense satisfaction of previous victories so i resisted. “Striving for Accuracy” comes along with a strong growth mindset. This allows individuals to keep a positive open mind; there is always room for improvement. Dedication and hard work will pay off rather than believing you'll stay how you are. Aspiring to transfer to Berkeley, having a strong growth mindset will contribute to the development of my skills and knowledge-- thus help me succeed in my academics. Striving for accuracy will only function properly if handled with infinite amount of hard work. The benefits of these three habits of mind have and will continue to help approach problems at different angles; it’ll make the process smoother and less complex.

The Things I Carry
My personal life backpack is filled with
numerous amounts of items—both being tangible and intangible. These items are
essential to me for educational, health, and self-esteem purposes. The
tangible artifacts I carry are: my cellphone, cosmetics, journal, and educational
supplies. My cellular device for example functions in a conspicuous manner; it
helps direct and organize my events in chronological order. My cosmetics are simply to help my
self-esteem. To even out my self-esteem issues, I journal. I basically just
meditate on certain aspects of my life and try to make it as positive as I can.
As I try to see the good in people, I try to see the good in myself as well. The
educational supplies are especially important since it is mandatory in order to
thrive in my academics. On the other hand, the intangible items are mainly all in
my mind. I carry my anxiety, faith, and a moral burden of debt. I also believe
in miracles. My anxiety and strict desire of orderliness and control are
something I’ve been working on to improve with my therapist. I have also been
carrying faith ever since my cousin was diagnosed with leukemia. It hurt so
much seeing him in pain all the time , but through faith and prayer, he survived.
I also carry the moral burden of debt since I owe all my accomplishments to my
parents and God. It is incredibly necessary to have these in mind as they are
the ones that will help me push through as I pursue my career.
